Whenever I attempt to declutter ~ I make a huge mess in the process. Almost counterproductive!

It's not too much to ask just more than you will get.
Take small steps. Little problems can be solved. Big problems are made up of lots of little ones.
    Good 55

Yeah, we're having the whole school work battle with the oldest. Instead of it getting better, it's getting worse. The only thing she's improved on is the amount of time she spends arguing about it with us. Here's to another school year. Cheers!

haha boy does that sound familiar. cheers!

Yes, we all have those moments when everthing is too much and more. Good 55.
PS It' s a bit difficult to leave comments here!
We are asked our name ,e-mail address, URL..
    Could be easier!
  • ciaraj · 3 months ago
i have too many of those moments. thx for stopping by even tho it seems difficult to comment :0)

you don't have to put your website url in: that's optional. just ur name and email. unless you have a facebook, disqus, or twitter acct. there are options to sign in that way as well if you just click on whichever button. i'm trying to see if there's openid and hopefully google at some point.

Ciara, you faked me out three times. First I thought (correctly) that the first part of the post was Flash Fiction; then it started to seem autobiographical, so I figured it was a 'real' post; then you called the first part Flash Fiction; then, as I read the main part of the post, I realized that your Flash Fiction was 'based on a true story.' Too trippy!

I was a star student through about grade 5. Then my parents divorced, and I (maybe rebelliously) started slacking off, or maybe school just coincidentally got more difficult. In any case, I struggled with certain subjects throughout middle school and high school. With math and science, I failed to grasp some things, then started to fall behind, and then felt this futility like I was never going to be able to catch up and keep up. In addition, even in subjects I cared about, like literature, I was lazy and often didn't even read the assigned books.

I won't presume to know what the problem or the solution is for anyone else's kids, but I think I would have been a different student if I had believed anyone cared about the *details* of my school work. Not just the outcome, but what I was experiencing, how I felt about it, that kind of thing. I really felt like I was totally on my own to dig myself out, which was pretty discouraging. I hope there is a nugget of insight in there somewhere that will help you!

hehe i faked you out....in reality that flash fiction can pertain to almost
anything. at times, some of my flash are autobiographical. i'm a rule
breaker so i don't always write fiction in flash haha but then others break
the rules, too...some like to write poetry. g-man, the host, doesn't
care...he just likes for us to participate and see where our creativity
takes us. he's the host w the most :0) lol

anyhow, my son sounds a lot like you...except i never married his father,
but i did marry my ex and had two daughters. my ex and i split up when the
girls were 5 & 3. to this day, my oldest girl remembers stuff from back
then. i often think that between our divorce and my remarriage to my current
husband, it hasn't been easy for her.

i think perhaps if someone cared about the 'details' of my son's work, he
would have applied himself more. unfortunately, that didn't happen...he even
had one teacher who told his class he didn't care if they made it out or
not, that would be up to them to get out of hs.

here's something i can admit to, i was not that great of a student until 8th
grade. i mean i wasn't bad, but i wasn't the best. it took a little
confidence in myself to really start working hard at it. i lacked self
confidence for many years...a very quiet child w few friends. so maybe, just
maybe my 12 yo can come out this the same way?? i'm glad my youngest is
pushing herself. i think she wants to be like big sis: smart. just wish big
sis would take a clue from lil sis & work hard.

thx for stopping by and i appreciate your insight :0)
